This is a lovely 1933 Underwood portable typewriter in good working order . Underwood was based in New York and made a wide variety of typewriters up until the early 1960's when Underwood was taken over by Olivetti.
It's is in a great condition for its age with a matt grey paintwork " crinkle " finish with a few minor marks to the metal body , mainly at the edge just above the Underwood name in the front and some discolouration in places.
It has round black keys with the letters and numbers in a dark creme colour and the shift lock , back spacer and tab keys in green .The metal chrome work is in a good condition with just some signs of wear in places and there is a small section at the top of the back right foot which is missing , but this does not affect it's performance in any way .The front lifts up to access the ribbon spools and the top of the carriage lifts to access the margin tabs. There is the Underwood name on the middle above the keys as well as the manufacturers details on the back of the typewriter and the Champion logo on the carriage .The typewriter types well and we have given it a clean ,service , adjusted and tested it and fitted a new ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on !
It comes with it's original case which is in a good functional condition . The wooden box is sound as is the handle and metal fastening to close the lid . There is some wear , small marks and some discolouration to the black covering on both the outside and inside .
The size of the typewriter is 27 cms wide by 29 cms deep and is 14 cms high and so is a nice portable size .
This is a fabulous and very collectable 1930's working typewriter and with a service and new ribbon is all ready to start typing on again .
