This is a 1933 Underwood Universal portable typewriter in good working order and a fabulous condition for its age. Underwood was based in New York and became Underwood Elliott Fisher around 1927 before later becoming known as the Underwood Corporation and made a wide variety of typewriters up until the early 1960's when Underwood was taken over by Olivetti.
It has 4 banks of vintage off white glass topped keys with silver chrome surrounds with black coloured letters and numbers , which are all in a nice overall condition with some slight discolouration to a few. There is the Underwood name and logo in gold on the carriage as well as the manufacturers details on the back of the typewriter .
This model has the larger " Pica " type so types 10 letters to the inch . Please note there is some reflection of the map behind on the black enamel body of the typewriter in some of our images .
This typewriter has been professionally cleaned, serviced, adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and fitted with a new black ribbon so it's ready for you to start typing!
We can supply Group 9 typewriter ribbons when required at £4.95 each including postage. A ribbon will last you a long time and to give you an idea , in an office environment with someone using a typewriter professionally a ribbon would last them around 3 months .
It's is in a lovely overall condition with a shiny black enamel paintwork finish with just a few very minor marks to the metal body , mainly on the right hand side plate on the carriage and some slight fading on the spool covers .The silver chrome work is also in a good overall condition with just some minor wear evident in places .
The size of the typewriter is 26 cms wide by 26 cms deep and is 12 cms high and so is a nice portable size . We also include a copy of it's original instruction leaflet.
It comes with its original case which is also in a good functional condition . The leather handle and latch to close both work well . There are some marks and discolouration to the case in places on both the inside and outside .
This is a fabulous and very collectable black enamel early 1930's Underwood working typewriter in a lovely condition and with glass topped keys.
