This Hermes Baby typewriter was made in 1948 and is in an industrial grey colour with round black keys, space bar and carriage knobs. Hermes typewriters were designed and made in Switzerland by Paillard before production moved to France and then to Brazil. They have a good reputation as wonderfully engineered and made machines, as you would expect from the Swiss. Hermes Baby models were originally the smallest typewriters on the market and enjoyed a loyal following .This one was made in Switzerland and is in full working order and types well.
Please note this model only types one colour. You can't use a two colour ribbon such as Black/Red, but you can type in plain colours like black, blue or green. This one has the slightly larger "pica" sized type face giving you 10 letters to the inch. It also has at some stage had the $ typehead replaced with a £ typehead and the £ sign scratched over the $ sign on the keytop. The £ key does type but the typehead is slightly worn.
This typewriter has been professionally cleaned, serviced, adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and is fitted with a new top quality American made Group 9 TW1 ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on.
We can supply Group 9 TW1 typewriter ribbons from £7.95 each including postage. Available in plain black and other plain colours on Universal spools. You can then also rewind the new ribbon onto the metal spools that are in the machine if you wish.
It is in a good general condition for its age with just some very small marks and wear to the "crinkle " finish paintwork on the metal body. It has the Hermes Baby logo on the front left as well as the Hermes brand name and details on the back and it's spools are accessed by opening the two "gull wing " covers. It measures 29 cm by 28 cm by 7 cm high and comes with a matching metal case that closes by fitting over the typewriter and has a handle that is sound. The case is in a good functional condition, but does have some minor marks and signs of wear on both the outside and inside .
If you want a smaller and very collectable portable typewriter with a good brand name that doesn't take up too much desk space this is a great option. We include a photo copy of an original instruction booklet.
Delivery within the UK is included in the price.
