Typewriter, 1955 Bergundy Olympia SM 2

£425.00 GBP

A lovely 1955 Olympia SM 2 typewriter in a relatively rare bergundy colour with black keys, space bar and carriage knobs. Olympia was a German brand of typewriter that was known for their great quality and ease of use. This one types in the slightly larger pica sized type face giving you 10 letters to the inch.

The typewriter has been professionally cleaned, serviced, adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and fitted with a new top quality American made Universal ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on.

The SM 2 's are all metal and beautifully engineered machines giving you a great typing performance. This one is in a very nice condition with just a few very minor marks to the paintwork. It has the Olympia logo in silver on the right side of the carriage and the manufacturers details on the back.

It comes with a copy of the manual.

We can supply Universal typewriter ribbons when required from £7.95 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black and a range of other colour options. You can put the plastic Universal spools in or rewind the new ribbon onto the metal spools that are currently in the machine.

It measures 27 cm by 28 cm by 12 cm high and comes with its original wooden carry case. The handle and clasp to close work well. The case has some small signs of wear and marks to both the inside and the outside, but it is all fully functional.

This SM2 is classed as a portable but is quite heavy and if you are wanting something to carry around a fair bit this may not be the best option, but if you want a well made and solid machine for extended typing projects then this is one to consider.

"My Olivetti arrived a couple days ago. Got a chance to test it out and it works like a dream (you wouldn’t guess it was nearly half a century old). Thank you for including the original metal spools, it adds a great touch to the machine. Looking forward to adding another typewriter to the collection sometime soon..." - Jake
