This lovely black enamel Remington Home portable typewriter was made in England in 1938 from parts imported from the US.It's in full working order and in a very good condition.It has the traditional black coloured keys with silver chrome surrounds and the letters and numbers in white.The words "Remington" and "Home Portable" can be seen on the top left and right in gold.It has the wording above the carriage indicating that it was assembled in London from imported parts.The Home Portable model was made to a price to maintain competitiveness at the time so comes with only a left hand margin, has no bell and you cannot use a red and black ribbon with this model. only plain colours.This one has the slightly larger "Pica" sized font giving you 10 letters to the inch.
This typewriter has been professionally cleaned, serviced, adjusted and tested.It is in working order and is fitted with a new ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on.We also include a photo copy of a Remington Portable instruction manual.
New typewriter ribbons can be purchased from us and cost £5.95 including postage.You can purchase any manual typewriter ribbon for this machine and rewind the new ribbon onto its original metal spools.We have plain black or other plain colour options available.
The typewriter measures 25 cm wide by 28 cm deep and 10 cm high.The enamel paintwork is in a good original condition with just a few marks and signs of small touch ups and signs of fading in some areas.The typewriter comes with a covered wooden case which is a good condition for its age.It has lost its original handle so we have fashioned a new leather one.The latch to close is sound and works well.
This is a fabulous looking 1930's vintage portable typewriter and it would make a wonderful display item as well as being ready to take out of the box and start typing on.
