The Olympia typewriter factory split at the end of the Second World War with new production starting in West Germany under the Olympia brand and the old factory which was in East Germany making under the Optima brand name.This fabulous gun metal grey coloured Elite model 3 with silver chrome trim was made in 1956.Optima have a good reputation as quality typewriters and for having a nice "touch ".This one is in good working order and has chocolate brown keys with white letters and numbers.It has the Optima logo in silver to the front of the ribbon cover as well as "Made in Germany " and "Elite 3 " on the back.It types well and is in a good overall condition with just a few minor marks in places mainly close to the ribbon selector and on the carriage.This one has the more standard " Elite " type giving you 11 letters to the inch.
This typewriter has been professionally cleaned ,serviced, adjusted and tested.It is in full working order and is fitted with a new Group 1 black and red ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on.

The typewriter measures 28 cm across by 30 cm deep by 13 cm high . It comes with a wooden case which has a covering.The latter has some signs of wear and discolouration on both the inside and outside in places.The original leather handle is missing but it has the metal internal part of the handle which works as a handle well.
We include a copy of an instruction booklet showing the features and how to change the ribbon.This is a good quality and very collectable 1950's German made typewriter.
