A 1942 Imperial Model T ( Tabulator ) typewriter in good working condition .
Imperial typewriters were made in Leicester in England and the Good Companion model was first launched in 1932 . It was named after J. B. Priestley's book " The Good Companions" which had been published at the same time and the collaboration with Priestley helped sell a huge number of Imperial typewriters .
This model is in a charcoal black colour with a crinkle effect to the paintwork on the metal body . It has the traditional black and silver chrome surrounds to the keys with dark creme coloured letters and numbers .It has the Imperial Royal Warrant crest on the top right , as well as " Manufactured by the Imperial Typewriter Company Ltd Leicester England " on the back and the "Imperial Model T " logo on the front above the keys . This one has the slightly larger " Pica " sized type giving you 10 letters to the inch and a cork platen .
There are only a few very minor marks and discolouration to the body . The silver chrome work and the keys are also in a good condition , although now a little faded and it types well . We have fitted a brand new ribbon as well as giving it a clean, full service and adjusted and tested it ,so its all ready for you to start typing on.
Group 1 typewriter ribbons can be purchased from many online suppliers or we can supply you with new ribbons when required .You would then rewind the new ribbon onto the existing metal spools in this typewriter. They cost £4.95 including postage and will last you a long time . To give you an idea , in an office environment with someone using a typewriter professionally a ribbon would last them around 3 months .
The case is also in a very good functional condition , with just a few marks and signs of wear mainly to the inside . It has a latch to close the case and handle that both work well . You can keep the typewriter on its base board which is attached by two hand screws or you can remove it from the board if you wish . We also include a photo copy of an original instruction booklet .
The typewriter measures 29cms by 29cms by 12 cms high and the case is 31 cms by 33 cms and 11 cms high .
This is a wonderful 1940's typewriter in a good working order and condition for its age .
