Imperial typewriters were made in Leicester in England and the Good Companion model was first launched in 1932 . It was named after J. B. Priestley's book " The Good Companions" which had been published at the same time and the collaboration with Priestley helped sell a huge number of Imperial typewriters .
This model is a number 6 and was made in 1962 in England and has a metal body in a light green colour with black keys and creme shift keys , carriage knobs and space bar .It has " Manufactured by the Imperial Typewriter Company Ltd Leicester England " on the back ( part missing ) and the "Imperial " logo at the front . This one has the slightly larger "Pica " sized type which is 10 letters to the inch.
There are a few minor marks to the enamel paintwork , mainly on the left hand side of the ribbon cover ,but generally this Imperial is in a very nice condition .The silver chrome work is good and It types well .
This typewriter has been professionally serviced , cleaned , adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and fitted with a new Group 1 ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on !
We can supply Group 1 typewriter ribbons at £4.95 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black and purple you would then rewind the new ribbon onto the existing metal spools . A ribbon will last you a long time and to give you an idea , in an office environment with someone using a typewriter professionally a ribbon would last them around 3 months.
It comes with a smart tan coloured imitation leather carry case which has some small marks and signs of wear to mainly the inside of the case , but is in a good overall functional condition . The clasp , handle are sound and the zips works well . We also include a copy of an original Model 6 instruction booklet .
The typewriter measures 28cms by 30 cms by 11 cms high .
This is a wonderful Mad Men style typewriter in a fabulous colour and in a good working order .
