Imperial typewriters were made in Leicester in England and the Good Companion model was first launched in 1932 . It was named after J. B. Priestley's book " The Good Companions" which had been published at the same time and the collaboration with Priestley helped sell a huge number of Imperial typewriters .
This model is a number 1 and was made in 1955 in England and has a metal body in a graphite mid grey enamel colour . It has lighter grey keys with dark green shift keys , black space bar and carriage knobs. It has " Manufactured by the Imperial Typewriter Company Ltd Leicester England " on the back and the Royal Warrant crest with "By Appointment to the late King George V " at the front. It has the standard "Elite" sized font so types with 12 letters to the inch.
It is in a very good general condition with just a few minor marks to the paintwork . The silver chrome work is also in a nice condition . A couple of the key tops have some signs of wear mainly the left hand shift key and the letter "C " key.
This typewriter has been professionally cleaned, serviced , adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and fitted with a new Group 1 ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on .
We can supply Group 1 typewriter ribbons at £4.95 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black , blue and purple. You would then just rewind the new ribbon onto the existing metal spools in the typewriter. A ribbon will last you a long time and to give you an idea , in an office environment with someone using a typewriter professionally a ribbon would last them around 3 months.
It comes with a black coloured case which is also in a good functional condition with a working handle and metal latch to close. The case does show some signs of wear mainly to the lining on the inside . The handle works well as does the latch to close the case. The typewriter is attached onto its base board by 4 screws which can be undone if you want to use it off the board.

The typewriter measures 28cms by 28 cms by 11 cms high and the case is 31 cms by 32 cms and 12 cms high .
This is a wonderful 1950's style typewriter in a fabulous industrial colour ,Royal Warrant crest to the front , nice portable size and in good working order .
