Typewriter, Imperial 1954 - Good Companion No 1

Imperial typewriters were made in Leicester in England and the Good Companion model was first launched in 1932 . It was named after J. B. Priestley's book " The Good Companions" which had been published at the same time and the collaboration with Priestley helped sell a huge number of Imperial typewriters .

This model is a number 1 and was made in 1954 in England and has a metal body in a green/grey matt colour in a "crinkle" finish . It has round black keys with the letters and numbers in a creme colour. It has " Manufactured by the Imperial Typewriter Company Ltd Leicester England " on the back, "Imperial The Good Companion " on the front  and the  Royal Warrant crest with "By Appointment to the late King George V "  at right of the ribbon cover. This one has the standard "Elite"  sized font so types with 12 letters to the inch.

It is in a good general condition with just a few minor age related marks to the paintwork . The silver chrome work is also in a nice condition .

This typewriter has been professionally cleaned, serviced , adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and fitted with a new Group 1 ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on .

We can supply Group 1 typewriter ribbons from £4.95 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black and a range of Universal ribbons in other colour options. You would then just rewind the new ribbon onto the existing metal spools in the typewriter. A ribbon will last you a long time and to give you an idea , in an office environment with someone using a typewriter professionally a ribbon would last them around 3 months.

It comes with a black coloured case which is also in a good functional condition with a working handle and metal latch to close. The case does show some signs of wear mainly to the lining on the inside . The handle works well as does the latch to close the case , with just some slight wear evident to both. The typewriter is attached onto its base board by 4 screws which can be undone if you want to use it off the board.

We do also include a photocopy of an original instruction booklet .

The typewriter measures 28cms by 28 cms by 11 cms high and the case is 31 cms by 32 cms and 12 cms high .

This is a wonderful 1950's style typewriter in a fabulous industrial colour ,Royal Warrant crest to the front , nice portable size and in good working order .
