Typewriter, 1949 Remington Model 5 De Luxe

$510.00 USD

This is a lovely charcoal black matt coloured Remington Model 5 De Luxe portable typewriter made in Great Britain from parts imported from the USA in 1949 and is from Remington's "1941 Line". It's in full working order and in a very good condition for its age. This model 5 has the wonderful "streamline " or curved design and this one has the standard elite sized type face so types with 12 letters to the inch.

The keys are round and black with the letters and numbers in an off white colour. There is some age related wear to a few of the key tops, mainly the "E". The paintwork to the metal body has a very few small marks and signs of wear, but generally is a good condition. It has its two original metal spools and the Remington logo at the front centre and the Remington Rand logo at the back of the carriage as well the manufactures details on the back.

We have given it a professional clean, service, adjusted and tested it as well as fitting a new top quality American made Universal ribbon, so its all ready for you to take out of the box and start typing on. We also include a photo copy of a Remington instruction manual.

We can supply Universal typewriter ribbons from £6.95 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black and a range of other colour options. You would then just rewind the new ribbon onto the metal spools in the typewriter.

The carry case is in a good functional condition with just a few marks and signs of wear. The metal clasp and closure and the handle work well.

The typewriter measures 27 cm across by 30 cm deep and 12 cm high.

This is a wonderful 1940's Remington vintage typewriter.

"My Olivetti arrived a couple days ago. Got a chance to test it out and it works like a dream (you wouldn’t guess it was nearly half a century old). Thank you for including the original metal spools, it adds a great touch to the machine. Looking forward to adding another typewriter to the collection sometime soon..." - Jake
