It was named after J. B. Priestley's book \" The Good Companions\" which had been published at the same time and the collaboration with Priestley helped sell a huge number of Imperial typewriters.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis model is a No 1 and was made in 1936 and is in a gloss black colour with a metal body. It has the traditional silver chrome surrounds on the vintage off white keys with the decals  \" Manufactured by the Imperial Typewriter Company Ltd Leicester England \" on the back and the \"Imperial \" logo on the top above the carriage as well as above the keys. This one types with the slightly larger pica sized type face with 10 letters or characters to the inch and has the chrome finials on the top of each metal spool. This model also has at some stage had some keys professionally changed so it comes with an ! key and some accented keys. We have replaced the rubber platen in this machine with a new professionally engineered new rubber platen.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere are only a few very minor marks to the metal body of the typewriter, but generally it is in a fantastic condition. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis typewriter has been professionally serviced, cleaned, adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and fitted with a new top quality American made Universal ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe can supply Universal typewriter ribbons from £8.95 each including postage. Available in plain black, red\/black and a range of other colour options. You would then just rewind the new ribbon onto the existing metal spools. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe carry case has some signs of wear, mainly on the inside, but is generally in a very good and functional condition.
