 This Royal Varsity ( D Model )  portable was made in the US in 1939 and is in a lovely matt charcoal black colour with a "crinkle " finish . It is in an extremely good condition for its age with only a few very minor marks and signs of wear to the paintwork .

It has the Royal logo on the front of the ribbon cover , " Royal Typewriter Co Inc USA " on the front bar and the manufacturers detail on the back .The keys are in a classic black with silver chrome surrrounds and the letters and numbers in a dark creme colour . There is some discolouration to the two shift keys . The silver chrome work is also in a nice condition and has a trim around the front and sides and three silver levers for adjusting touch control . ribbon colour and ribbon reverse . This one has the larger sized Pica font and types with 10 letters to the inch .

Its a very nice compact size being 26 cms wide x 27 cms deep x 12 cms high .

This typewriter has been professionally serviced , cleaned , adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and fitted with a new Group 9 ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on !

We can supply Group 9 typewriter ribbons at £4.95 each including postage. Available in plain black, red/black, blue and purple .A ribbon will last you a long time and to give you an idea , in an office environment with someone using a typewriter professionally a ribbon would last them around 3 months.

There is a wooden black coloured covered case which is sound and only slightly worn in places. The latch works to close it and it has a sound handle . 

It has a serial number D100426 which dates it to 1939/40. We also include the original certificate of guarantee card which shows it was originally sold on 13th November 1940 . The card also has tips on operating the typewriter.

This is a wonderful Royal Varsity portable typewriter in a good working order and a lovely condition for its age .
