Royal Portable - Yellow

£0.00 GBP

Royal Typewriters were based in New York and by the late 1920's were one of the best selling portable typewriter brands . This Royal portable was made in 1931 and is in a rare " golden yellow "  colour . It is in a generally good condition for its age , but does have some marks and wear to the paintwork and evidence of paint  touch ups in places  , mainly on the front bar and the edges around the ribbon covers .Its also missing its left hand carriage knob , but you can operate the typewriter with no problem at all just using the right hand knob , and many early machines such as Remington portables only had the right hand knob as standard.

The variance in depth of colour is however how it was designed .It has glass covered keys which are in off white with black coloured numbers and letters with silver chrome surrounds. These are in a good condition with just some slight discolouration to a few . The silver chrome work is also in a nice condition although has faded in places over time.

It has the Royal logo on the back above the carriage as well as on the back of the machine and on the front bar.The typewriter is in full working order, types well  and we have given it a full clean, service , re lubrication as well as fitting a new ribbon , so its all ready for you to start typing on.

Universal typewriter ribbons can be purchased from many online suppliers or we can supply you with new ribbons when required . They generally cost around $10 including  postage . However a ribbon will last you a long time . To give you an idea , in an office environment with someone using a typewriter professionally a ribbon would last them around 3 months.

It has a serial number P272529  which dates it to 1931 .The typewriter measures 30 cms by 28 cms by 11 cms and comes with a black case , which is in also in a good general condition for its age . There is some wear and small marks to the covering on mainly the outside . The handle and two clips to close work well.

This is an unusual and stunning yellow 1930's  Royal portable typewriter with glass topped keys and in a good working order .We also include a photo copy of an original two page booklet for a very similar Royal model from 1935.

"My Olivetti arrived a couple days ago. Got a chance to test it out and it works like a dream (you wouldn’t guess it was nearly half a century old). Thank you for including the original metal spools, it adds a great touch to the machine. Looking forward to adding another typewriter to the collection sometime soon..." - Jake
