This wonderful Remington Noiseless portable typewriter was made in the USA in 1937 and these models became popular for their typing ease and reduced clatter and noise compared to other typewriters of the era. These models were engineered to produce a reduced sound when typing and produced more of a muffled thud, thud noise , rather than the more standard click , clack sound. If you were a journalist in a newsroom with perhaps over 100 typewriters in action you can appreciate why " noiseless " models would have been sought after.
This typewriter is in full working order and in a generally very good condition with just a few small marks to the gloss black enamel finish paintwork . It has the traditional black keys with silver chrome surrounds and the letters and numbers in a beautiful vintage off white colour .The words " Remington Noiseless Portable " can be seen above the carriage , "Made in USA " above the keys and the manufactures details on the back. It has the original ribbon covers with their silver knobs and the chrome work is in a good condition with some signs of wear in places.
The typewriter measures 28 cm wide by 28 cm deep and 12 cm high and types well for its age . This model has the slightly larger sized "pica" type giving you 10 letters to the inch.
This typewriter has been professionally cleaned ,serviced, adjusted and tested . It is in working order and is fitted with a new ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on .
Group typewriter ribbons can be purchased from us and cost £5.95 including postage . You can purchase any manual typewriter ribbon for this machine and rewind the new ribbon onto its original metal rings .You can use two tone red and black ribbons on this machine as well as other colours .
It comes with it's original wooden carry case which is sound but showing some small signs of wear to the covering in places. The clips and handle are sound but worn.
