Imperial typewriters were made in Leicester in England and the Good Companion model was first launched in 1932. It was named after J. B. Priestley's book " The Good Companions" which had been published at the same time and the collaboration with Priestley helped sell a huge number of Imperial typewriters.
This model is a number 5 and was made in 1959 in England and has a metal body in a pale pastel green enamel colour with black keys and dark green shift keys and space bar. It has " Manufactured by the Imperial Typewriter Company Ltd Leicester England " on the back and the "Imperial " logo badge at the front. The typeface on this one is the slightly larger "pica " size giving you 10 letters to the inch.
This typewriter has been professionally cleaned, serviced, adjusted and tested. It is in full working order and is fitted with a new top quality Universal TW38 black ribbon so its all ready for you to start typing on.

The typewriter is in a good general condition for it's age, with some small marks to the paintwork at the front edges, the back of the carriage and on the ribbon cover. There is also some small wear to a few of the keys and the space bar.
It comes with a silver fibre glass carry case which has a clip to close and 2 clips to hold the typewriter to its base when in transit. The handle is sound and the case is in a good functional condition with just a few marks of wear on the inside and outside.

The typewriter measures 32cm by 28 cm by 11 cm high .
This is a wonderful Mad Men style typewriter in a lovely pastel colour and in good working order.
